Why do we need a third service?

Overcrowding has been an issue for quite a while.  From our parking lot to our sanctuary, we are near capacity at some point on Sunday morning.  The most urgent situation is in our children’s area and particularly among infants and preschoolers.  By launching a third service, we can shift a segment of our membership to an alternate time and create more space without
constructing any new buildings.

When and where will the third service take place?

3 will be held in the fellowship hall at 6:15pm on Sunday evenings..

Why is Sunday night the best time?

An additional service Sunday morning would only compound our space issues.  Sunday evening
also provides an attractive opportunity to people in our community
who work or have other conflicts on Sunday morning.

Why is the fellowship hall the best place?

Our existing Sunday evening service and activities will continue and will hinder use of the sanctuary. The fellowship hall is also more conducive to the less
formal worship setting the third service will provide.

What does “less formal” mean and why is 3 going to be that way?

It would be impossible to create an exact replica of the Sunday morning worship experience.  It requires a large number of people and a great deal of time from those individuals to make our 9:30am and 10:50am services happen.  The third service will need to have a scaled down approach.  Utilizing a small worship team and encouraging attenders to dress casual will create a “less formal” environment.  This setting will also welcome an additional segment of our community who struggle connecting with our traditional morning services.

Who should come to the 3rd service?

In order to help our space issues, we primarily need a significant number of our young families to embrace this new service.  We also need a few members of each age group to be involved, so that we maintain the multigenerational interaction that makes the FBC community so special.  Regardless of your direct involvement, we desperately need EVERYONE to support this new and exciting opportunity.  Remember, this promises to be a very appealing option for a large number of the unchurched community around us.  We can ALL invite our friends and the people we meet to this third service!

Will Greg Sykes do the preaching in this service?

YES!!  Greg will preach the same message at the third service that he
taught in the morning.  Greg will also continue to teach the Sunday evening service at 5:00pm in the sanctuary.

What about our current Sunday evening service and activities?

Everything that is happening right now will continue, with only a few small changes.  At 6:15pm our third service in the fellowship hall will be the main thing going on and childcare for Pre-K and under will be provided during that time.  Sunday evening worship will run at 5:00pm in the sanctuary and everything else will continue according
to the times and locations in our current structure.

What will Sunday School look like for those involved in 3?

The 5:00 hour will become the Sunday school time for third service attenders.  Those involved will be broken into small groups, which will provide a discussion oriented and interactive environment. Content for these small groups will look very similar to the morning Sunday school classes.  Children 4th grade and under will also have Sunday school at 5:00pm with creative and age appropriate Bible teaching.

If I come to 3, should I come to Sunday morning too?

The third service will mirror Sunday morning in content and going to both would be repetitive.  It also does not help our space issue unless the third service removes people from Sunday morning.  Those attending the third service will need to view Sunday evenings in the same way that everyone else views Sunday morning.

How does 3 effect me?

Three is an option, you get to decide!!!
